The 2011 Children's Books & Literacy Dinner will be held on Saturday, February 25 at the Westin Pasadena Hotel.  This dinner is a wonderful opportunity for you to thank your teachers and librarians for their patronage of your store and to meet other educators as well.  No other store can offer such an opportunity!  You are providing the chance for Great Books & Authors to Help Get Kids Hooked on Books! Best part of all is creating stronger ties between independent bookstores and teachers / librarians.  The past six years have seen this dinner double in size to 162 attendees last year to an expected 200+ this year.  Attendees are booksellers, teachers, librarians, authors and of course reps / publishers.

This year we are welcoming speakers Cornelia Funke (Reckless, Little, Brown), Aaron Karo (Lexapros & Cons, Macmillan), Lisa Loeb (Lisa Loeb's Sing-a-Long, Sterling) and Jennifer Neilsen (The False Prince, Scholastic). 

Michael Grant (author of Gone and The Magnificent 12 series) will be joining us as well to emcee and introduce us to his new series BZRK (Egmont).

   

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

SCIBA 2012 Membership Now Due!

The Southern California Independent Booksellers Association (SCIBA) membership year runs through December 31 of each year. Dues must be paid by February 1 to be included in the SCIBA Guide to Independent Bookstores.  Membership is open to retail bookstores, as well as to book publishers, distributors, sales reps, vendors, prospective booksellers, and others in the bookselling community.Read More
